This position is primarily focused on providing automation operational support, troubleshooting, process optimization, programming RTU’s, and Human Machine Interface (HMI) support at natural gas production facilities and associated compressor stations. As projects are completed and day-to-day needs change, this position will secondarily focus on providing natural gas measurement services such as meter calibrations, instrument auditing and sample collection. This position is based out of the Weatherford, OK area, and reports to the Director of Automation.
- Design, assemble, install, and maintain automation systems, instrumentation wiring, and equipment using computer software and tools.
- Execute software configurations and programming to plan, design, and install wired and wireless custom automation solutions.
- Plan and implement radio and cellular communications to new sites.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and modify systems and components to full-service capacity.
- Diagnose routine and non-routine equipment malfunction by observing operation, listening, and using diagnostic equipment to locate causes of a breakdown; Correct the problem and implement improvements as needed from any lessons learned.
- Perform standard natural gas measurement services such as meter calibrations, instrument auditing and sample collection, among other services.
- Work closely with customers and Director of Automation on customized solutions from inception, planning and design through installation, customer training and systems monitoring.
- Work well in a team environment or independently as needed to meet project objectives and deadlines, which requires self-discipline, efficiency, good judgment, time management and clear communication with colleagues, management, and customers.
- Work and communicate professionally (written & verbal) with colleagues, management, and customers.
- Fully understand and adhere to company and customer safety/environmental policies and procedures. Recognize unsafe conditions, escalate known issues and/or stop work.
- Multi-task on various projects at different phases of completion.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships with various providers such as automation technology service providers.
- 3-5 years of experience with industrial automation/process controls, instrumentation, SCADA and electronic systems, communication protocols & radio communications.
- Experience in Oil/Gas industry (preferred) but will consider candidates with strong automation experience in other industries.
- High School Diploma or GED (required). Tech/trade school, craft career (apprentice, journeyman, etc.) or higher education (preferred)
- Active/unrestricted driver’s license and safe driving record (required).
- Mechanical aptitude and strong analytical/reasoning skills in practical situations, including ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
- Proficiency in the use of Windows and Microsoft Office based programs and diagnostic programs required.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays and respond to call outs and emergencies.
- Ability to work in changing climate conditions and capable of working in tight spaces, climbing to, and working from elevated platforms, ladders, walkways, etc.
- Ability to work with a team and take direction from supervisors.
- Fluency in English (required)
- Regularly work around chemical and mechanical systems and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, and humidity. The noise level may be loud at times.
- Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to lift and move equipment and/or pipes, provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
- Frequently operates a computer, hand and power tools, and other equipment.
- Occasionally ascends/ descends stairs and/or ladders to inspect and/or install equipment on production equipment.
